Vacation Beauty Prep Tips

Heading out for some sand, sun, and warmer weather soon? That's amazing! But before you pack that suitcase, you may want to figure out when to book those beauty appointments so you look your best on your trip (and in the pictures). Read on for our vacation beauty prep tips.
Here's our recommended timeline for a glowup before your big trip:
Three weeks to a month before: Major prep
Hair: Schedule your major hair appointments, such as deep conditioning treatments, scalp facials, trims, root touchups, and coloring to prevent sun and water damage
Skin: Schedule a deeply exfoliating and/or hydrating facial now so that your skin won't be sensitive during vacation, and you'll get that gorgeous glow. If you don't have a consistent skincare routine, start one now (find more info here).
Waxing/Tanning: Schedule your waxing appointment to allow your skin time to heal before hitting the pool. (Read about waxing here.) If you're tanning, you may want to begin now to build up your tan. You'll also want to exfoliate your body 1-2 times per week.
Teeth whitening: If you're planning to get your teeth professionally whitened, now's the time. If you prefer to use at-home strips, three to four weeks before your vacation is a good time to start, too.
One to two weeks before: Maintenance
Brows + Lashes: Get your brows shaped and tinted. If you're planning lash extensions, one to two weeks out is a good time frame for that as well.
Self-tanner: Build your natural base with self-tanner. If you're planning a spray tan, a week should allow enough time for your tan to look lived-in and natural.
Skincare: Keep up your skincare routine, making sure to exfoliate your face 2-3 times per week for glowy, radiant skin.
Nails: Book your manicure and pedicure a week to a few days before your departure. Gel will hold up and be the most durable, but regular polish can last up to a week to ten days. Exfoliate those feet and put moisturizer on them so they look great in your new sandals.
Self-care: There's a lot to think about before a big trip, but make sure you're taking time for yourself. Bump up your water (air travel is dehydrating), eat well so you feel your best, exercise, and prioritize getting good rest at night. You want to enjoy your trip, and all these little things add up and make a difference in how you feel.
On the plane and during your vacation:
In flight: Continue drinking plenty of water. If you feel like it, apply a moisturizing facial spray to combat dry cabin air (or put on a sheet mask and relax).
On vacation: Prioritize that SPF when you're out and about! When you get back to your hotel room, moisturize and continue your skincare routine to replenish your skin right away.
