We've been talking a lot about fall trends the past couple of weeks (fall nail trends and fall makeup trends), so it's only natural that we'd talk about what hair colors and cuts are trending for fall. While customers are going more natural with hair color for less maintenance, gutsier cuts like bobs are trending. Read on for our list of fall hair trends:
Creme Brulee blonde: This is a subtle blonde that's low-contrast and sits in that perfect range of being not-too-warm and not-too-cool. It's a golden, peachy transition shade that won't make you look too processed, and can be easily adapted for any skin tone.
Brown Sugar brunette: This shade is meant to capture an earthy, lived-in look that shifts depending on how you style your hair. Pulled back, the hair looks a uniform brown; styled with the hair down, the blonde ends peek through. Overall, brown sugar is a neutral shade that will allow you a longer time between salon visits.
Plush brunette: Want to amp up your natural brunette shade? This color is not quite black, but is a deep brown with espresso highlights running through that shine in the sunlight. Glossy, hydrated hair really shows off this look.
Cinnamon Spice: This season brings in cooler copper tones--less orange, with auburns that lean into cinnamon and brown shades. This color can be brought in all over, through highlights, or in pieces and panels. Don't forget that coppers tend to fade faster, so this color requires more maintenance.
Pops of color: Fun, vivid colors haven't faded into the background--they're just cleverly peeking out from under the top layer of the hair. Creative placement of color, whether it's a piece in the bangs, color-blocked underneath the top layer, or scattered throughout as highlights, are a great way to add playfulness, and you can add temporary dye to salon-lightened color.
The "whimsy pixie": For haircuts, a close-cropped pixie that's slightly grown out around the perimeter of the face, creating whisps around the ears and the nape of the neck, is definitely on-trend. It's a cut that's meant to be light, airy, and romantic that grows out well and is easy to style.
The "shaggy bixie": Somewhere between a bob and a pixie, you'll get more length to play with but the weightlessness of a pixie cut. Making it shaggy recreates the rom-com '90s star vibes (think Meg Ryan), and is meant to look effortless and lived-in.
Voluminous Curls: Afros with big, bouncy curls lately have been sporting some '70s volume. Use cuts that enhance your curls' natural shape and follow your natural curl pattern as you're styling your hair for natural volume and gorgeous curls.
Geometric bobs: Sharp bobs are still having a moment. Depending on your hair texture, just above the shoulders or just above the chin are the lengths that work for most people, then ask for a blunt bob with precision ends and minimal layering. Be sure to talk with your stylist about where you part your hair to make sure your bob turns out sleek and stylish.
Cashmere Shag: Here's yet another '70s influence trending this fall. This one's a bit longer than the traditional hairstyle, with flattering layers framing the face or with the addition of a bang. It's great to reset your hair from summer's extra sunshine or chlorine, and good cuts will allow you to put on a little smoothing cream and walk out the door for an effortless look.
"The Rachel" 2.0: Cuts that are heavy on the layers, with lots of movement and volume are trending this fall. Long hair and shorter lengths can both benefit from this style with its face-framing layers and removal of extra bulk.
Square bangs: Blunt bangs make a statement with any hair length, and can be worn straight or swept off to the side when you want to change up your look.
Feathered layers: Long hair with lots of layers and bounce are all over TikTok. These styles are versatile because they look great down, but add nice texture around the face should you want to put your hair up.
