Students are heading back to school and the nights are getting just a little bit cooler. Maybe you're already thinking about that first breath of fall weather! There are lots of new routines to get used to: school drop-offs and pickups, extra curriculars, and sports schedules. But there's one routine you may not have thought of: transitioning your summer skincare routine into fall during these last few days of August and into September. Many people are able to stick to the same skincare routine with just a few little tweaks.
You might be asking: What should change, if the weather's still hot during the day? That's a great question, and while you know your skin best, we've got a few tips to help your skin continue glowing during those transitional months.
-Consider your cleanser: If you're using a facial cleanser that strips your skin of excess oil, consider switching to a more gentle one. As the humidity drops, cool winds pick up, and the temperatures get colder, you'll want to protect your face with a hydrating cleanser to help maintain moisture balance.
-Exfoliate mindfully: Peels can be great for detoxification an overall skin reset, especially as the season changes. (See our facial services here.) While it's still important to exfoliate, you'll want to make sure that you use a gentle exfoliant to avoid over-stripping your skin of its natural oils.
-Adding light moisture: Depending on your skin type, you probably don't need to add a lot of extra moisture; however, you might consider a more hydrating toner for a little extra lightweight boost. You could also try some facial oils at night, serums, or essences that focus more on hydration but won't overwhelm your skin. Of course, continue protecting your skin with your daily SPF.
-Stay hydrated: Drink your water! Hydration starts from within, so you'll see the best results in your skin when you're sure you're drinking enough water.
-Don't forget your lips: Use a nourishing lip balm to keep your lips hydrated, too. Gentle lip scrubs and deep moisturizing lip masks can add extra moisture for those windy, chilly fall days.
