Guys, you have skin too, and it's important to take care of it! It doesn't need to be complicated, but a simple morning and evening routine can go a long way toward making your skin look healthy, clearing up any concerns, and protecting against environmental issues. You might even consider booking a facial to jump start your skincare journey and talk with Patrice to see what products would be best for your skin type. (Find our facial services here.)
Read on for our simple skincare routines for men:
Morning:
-Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser to wash away any sweat, dirt, or grime without stripping your skin's natural oils. Use a dime-sized amount and avoid using bar soap, as the ingredients in most bar soaps are too harsh for the face. With a wet face, rub the cleanser into the skin for 20-30 seconds, rinse, and pat your face dry. (Karin Herzog's Cleansing Milk is a good option!)
-Moisturize: Add a dime-sized amount of moisturizer to your face once you've cleansed. Moisturizer keeps your skin smooth, and most come with good anti-aging ingredients to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. (We like Karen Herzog's Additional Sweet Day & Night Moisturizer)
-SPF: Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you walk out the door, even on rainy days and during the winter. Look for a daytime moisturizer with SPF for double benefits.
Night:
-Cleanse: Once again, grab your cleanser (you can use the same one) to wash away the day's impurities.
-Exfoliate (optional): Try a gentle scrub after cleansing 2-3 times per week to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells. (Try Karin Herzog's Mild Scrub)
-Serum (optional): Serums address skin concerns. If you have acne, you may want a spot treatment to help them heal. For fine lines and wrinkles, try retinol alternated on the days when you don't exfoliate. (See our list of skin antioxidants here.)
-Night cream: This can be the same as your day cream, or you could explore a richer, more moisturizing cream to hydrate the skin while you sleep. If you're concerned about crow's feet, add an eye cream to hydrate and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
