Easy Holiday Makeup Looks

A flatlay of scattered makeup products

Last week, we tackled easy holiday party hairstyles that would have you out the door in ten minutes or less. We know you want to look festive, glam, and pulled together for all of your holiday events, so this week, we're bringing you easy holiday makeup looks that will make you look great but won't have you at the vanity all day.

With quick makeup, it's all about the focus. Do you want dramatic eyes, cheeks, or lips? Pick your focal point and find our tips below.

  1. Bold lips: This is probably the easiest out-the-door look! A red lip is always festive, whether you choose a sheer red-tinted balm or a dramatic liquid lippie. You can even go for a dark burgundy if that's your vibe. Pop a glowy skin tint on as foundation (or just put concealer where you need it if you don't have time), add a little natural blush, and swipe some mascara across your lashes. Beautiful and classic!

  2. Dramatic eyes: Dramatic eyeshadow doesn't have to take a lot of time. Liquid eyeshadows or eyeshadow crayons with a bit of shimmer have great color payoff without requiring a lot of blending time. Try a champagne-gold color over your whole eye with a little bit of dark green or smoky grey in the outer corner to keep it festive, and add a smudgy green or charcoal liner to match. Make sure to pop on your favorite false lashes or mascara for extra drama, use a glowy skin tint with a natural blush, and keep your lips neutral so the focus stays on your eyes.

  3. Colorful eyeliner: You can have fun with this one! Do any color correcting you need to with your undereye area and add an eyeshadow primer. Swipe a neutral shimmery shadow across your lids, and add a pop of festive color through your eyeliner, whether you choose to keep it smoky and smudgy or wing it out. Dark greens, glittery golds and silvers, and even burgundies look great against those shimmery shadows. If you're inspired by the winter scene, navy blues and eggplants also make a nice statement. Another fun trick (if you don't have the color you want) is to apply your eyeliner in your regular black or brown and add some glitter over the top to create a glitter eyeshadow. You can add the festive color on the top or bottom or both, and add your favorite mascara. (Colorful mascara is also a fun substitute!) Put on your favorite skin tint or foundation and blush and keep your lips neutral so that eyeliner stands out.

  4. Cheeky glow: Who says blush can't be a focal point of your makeup look? Grab that blush that's too bright or dark for normal circumstances, or just a great berry, pink, or red color. Prep your face with a hydrating, glowy skin tint, any concealer you need, and layer on that blush! Since the blush is the focal point, you'll want to be a little dramatic with the color, but go slowly and make sure to blend. When the color is a level you're comfortable with, you can consider adding some glitter as a blush topper (chunky highlighters work well for this) for a little extra oomph. Pop some mascara and smoky liner around your eyes, keep your lips neutral, and you're good to go!

  5. Holiday glow: Everybody loves to have that glowy holiday makeup look. Prime your skin with an illuminating makeup primer and put on your favorite glowy foundation. This look is all about highlighter, so grab your favorite, whether it's liquid, cream, or powder, and hit the high points of your face (forehead, bridge of the nose, upper lip, chin, and temples). Add your favorite glowy blush (but balmy and a little sheer), dewy bronzer if you have time (in the shape of a three (hairline, cheekbone, chin), and pop on some glittery eyeshadow with your favorite lashes or mascara. Add your favorite dewy lipstick--red, neutral, pink, berry--whatever color suits your outfit and mood, and you're good to go!
